Perhaps you indeed are, but there remain quite a few household objects that can slip through the net surprisingly easily when homeowners are compiling checklists of what to clean. Hoovering carpets, washing bed linen and wiping down work surfaces are obvious tasks to take care of, but you might have forgotten to check the following…

Remote control

If you are pretty addicted to your TV set, then its remote control is probably among the most touched items in your abode. Sadly, this remote can easily attract build-ups of grease, crumbs and dust left there from your fingers – and, while weekly cleaning that remote with disinfectant can suffice for banishing germs, reaching dirt between the buttons can be tricky. A cotton bud could be the “key” for “unlocking” that obstacle.

Washing machine

Given that a washing machine is itself intended to restore hygiene, it’s understandable if you keep forgetting that this big white box won’t just clean itself while cleaning your clothes. Inside that cavernous machine, mould and residue can accumulate but remain largely out of view. Fortunately, adding some white cleaning vinegar to your laundry detergent for the hottest cycle of the washing machine when it is empty can help.

Cushion covers

Remaining on the subject of the washing machine, you can easily use that to wash cushion covers you might have been able to remove from cushions of yours. However, be warned that not all cushion covers are machine washable, as their labels might have already told you. Blinds

While you don’t strictly have to be blind not to notice dust that has accumulated on a… blind, you might nonetheless have assumed that your own blinds would be overly tricky to clean. While a Venetian blind or plantation shutter can indeed be a little difficult to clean, you can still manage the task with some washing-up liquid, while a roller of Roman blind can just call for a soft dusting on occasion.
